Pretty Healthy Ice Pops

So I have a child who is obsessed with ice-cream and ice-lollies. At 2 years of age, she usually greets me when I come home with a beaming smile and her almost catchphrase, “Daddy, you give ice-pop me?”.

Being a man with a savage sweet tooth myself, I was determined to develop my own iced treat, one which I could to give my little girl, guilt free, and yet would be tasty enough for me to enjoy too.

This is what I’ve come up with so far……..

Ingredients:

  • Orange Juice
  • Frozen Strawberries
  • Honey

What you’ll need:

  • Blender
  • Ice lolly moulds

Method:

  • Simply blend one part Frozen Strawberries with one part Orange Juice and add a squirt of honey to taste.
  • Fill the moulds and pop into the freezer until hard.

FYI, if you add some frozen yoghurt* and tweak the portions a little bit by adding more orange juice than strawberries, then you’ll find you have the makings of a very tasty smoothie.

*At my local supermarket, they rarely have tubs of frozen yoghurt, so I normally just buy a pot of natural yoghurt and throw it into the freezer in portion sized containers for whenever I need them.

Posted By LazyEagle LazyEagle loves lots of things, but very few more than he loves food. As a father himself, (2 year old and a newborn) he tries to balance healthy, hearty eating with deliciousness. A sucker for sweet things, a trait that has seemingly passed along to the next generation, expect lots of stews, random desserts and cakes, and probably too many recipes that require chef portions of cream and/or butter. (FYI Chef Portion = Obscene Amount)
